The evenings might be getting darker and the temperatures might be dropping but we are all still paddling albeit in warmer jackets and hats!!
So, please continue to paddle throughout these winter months as long as you are comfortable with the conditions and those around you are comfortable paddling with you. There is no shame is pulling out of a paddle if you feel the water is running too fast or the weather is miserable. We run peer paddles throughout the winter months but they are what they say ‘peer paddles’, you are ultimately responsible for yourself. This applies to both the Wednesday and Sunday paddles too. If a coach turns up and is not confident of the paddlers he is leading on a peer paddle he is not obliged to get on the water - coaches are there to offer support and guidance they are not obligated to paddle!!
Our Safety Officer posted a good article some weeks ago about what to wear - worth a read.
Courses coming up:
15.11.26 This was very oversubscribed the last time we ran this course so do please book early - Forward Paddling Beautifully and Efficiently - for anyone who thinks they paddle well trust me when Mark Corti assesses you you will think differently. This is truly a great 90 minutes of assessment and tuition that everyone should try - and it's free!
There is a heavily discounted First Aid Course in March. This is open to all our members but specifically for those who might be considering dipping their toe in some leadership roles within the club, whether it be assisting with a coaching course or helping out at the junior club - so many opportunities available but not many courses.
Coaches: We will probably not run another first aid course in 2027 so if your certificate is due at any stage in 2027 please can you avail of this course at these prices.
Paddlesport Instructor Course 8th & 9th May 2027 - not on the calendar yet but this will initially be for adults (and a few accomplished u/18 paddlers). It is an expensive course and there may be some coaching funds available to help with the costs which can be discussed. If you are interested in this do please contact me kathy.syplywczak24@gmail.com

19.12.26 Christmas Bingo and Quiz Night + Please come and support this absolutely fun evening for ALL our members and their families - we would love to see you and have a fun night.
20.12.26 Annual Santa Hat paddle to Allington This is such a well attended paddle and with all our Santa hats in tow is a great spectacle! Do please join us if you can.
There will of course be the regular Sunday and Wednesday paddles but you must sign up if you are a novice paddler (i.e. not achieved Explore Award) or a junior. Keep an eye on the club Whatsapp group chat for updates on the day Club Whats app.
