Thursday, 19th February is (as everyone surely knows) the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company - or Kellogg’s, as it’s now known. We’ll be eating our cornflakes before the pool session at 7:30pm - see you there!
Dr Kellogg also invented a mechanical slapping device and an improved method of colonic irrigation. We’ll be sticking to the cornflakes.
Come and learn the basics of tidal planning and marine chart reading to aid your sea paddles. We'll work on our local estuary charts to make the training pertinent to our actual location. There will be a Powerpoint presentation but mostly worked examples to keep you stimulated. If you have dividers and a chart plotter, it will help but not essential. An Imray or Admiralty chart of the Medway Estuary will also be useful but again not essential. Pencil and notepad essential.

As well as the usual kayak-based fun, I’ll be working on SUP technique at the pool this month. Focussing on moving around the board - those risky manoeuvres that it’s too cold to practice in the river at the moment! Feel free to bring a board and share tips & advice.

If you’ve had enough of Christmas cracker jokes already, come to the pool session this Thursday. It will be a calm oasis away from the Christmas craziness, and you can burn off some of the inevitable Christmas calories in advance!
One of English literature's great poems about November was written by famed miserabilist Thomas Hardy in 1914. You can read it here but my goodness, it’s dreary. You’d be happier if you came to the pool session on Thursday instead and I’ll tell you a limerick.
