Intensive Rolling Clinic
Rolling is best learned in a pool - it's clean and warm, and easy for someone to stand next to you and help if things don't go to plan!
However, it can be hard to make progress without regular practice. This is why we're running an intensive rolling clinic - four sessions over two weeks. While we don't guarantee you'll be rolling by the end of the course, this format maximises your chances of getting from zero to hero!
- this course is suitable for paddlers with solid Explore-level skills
- rolling is a dynamic movement, so you should be physically competent to do this. It doesn't require strength, just skill (which we can teach you) and dynamism (which we can't)!
- the course starts on Tuesday 10th June, with the following sessions on Friday 13th, Tuesday 17th, Friday 20th June, 6pm - 7:30pm. Please try to arrive 15 minutes early if you can, and please only book if you can make all the sessions.
- coaching will be at a 1:2 ratio, so you'll get 45 minutes of 1:1 coaching each evening. Rolling practice is tiring, so this is probably enough!
You will need to bring:
- well-fitting boat. Without adequate connectivity between you and the craft, you won't roll.
- paddle
- reasonable spraydeck
- a nose clip and goggles are suggested but not mandatory. We may have bits you can borrow.
- swimming costume
- towel
The course will be held in a heated outdoor pool. If the weather is inclement - it's the British summertime, after all - consider a cag or similar for warmth when hanging around.
As always, any questions please ask!
